Teaching Work Ethic

Teaching kids to work hard is sometimes not any easy task. If we make it fun and provide special recognition to the hardest workers on the team it will foster more of the same and spread throughout your team. Here is how one team accomplishes this. If you have other ideas you are willing to share email them to me and I will put them in the newsletter.

Here's a method we use to teach hard work as a foundation for hockey.  After each practice or game, we present a team hardhat to the hardest worker.  They get to wear it home and put a sticker on it or write their number on it.  We started doing it last year and the kids absolutely love it.  We've even had kids wear it on the bus to school.  As an end of the year gift, we gave each kid a team color hardhat with our logo, their name and number on it.  It's really helped us develop a solid foundation to build our team on.  Of course, we hope it carries over to everyday life.
