Volunteer Job Descriptions
Our January tournament is only success through the volunteer effort of all of our parents.
Here is a list of the job assignments and a brief description.
This volunteer should have previous experience being a rink director. This person is the 'go to' person on the rink and will have communication with the tournament room. Each rink will also have an EMT.
This volunteer runs the clock. We really need a lot of people to do this and there are two great ways to get experience ahead of time. Have a group of parents practice working the clock during team practices, scrimmages, and games. Also the IYHA website has a clock simulator. This is the EXACT model used at the SuperRink. This volunteer keeps the scorebook, including shots on goal, goals, and penalties. The scorekeeper and timekeeper often work together. The scorekeeper will also announce the beginning of the game and the teams. There are instructions in the rink books. The rink director can also assist if needed.
This volunteer is responsible for letting players in and out of the penalty box. You will need to be watching the end of the penalty so the player can get back on the ice as soon as his/her penalty is complete! Sometimes players get upset, but be firm and positive. The rink director and EMT will assist if both penalty boxes are being used.

Volunteers work together to organize tournament details and activities.
Volunteers need to be fluent in workings of Microsoft Excel and Word. Volunteers will take the information provided by each registered team and create; team sign in sheets (excel), program information by level (word), and team/coaches labels (word). There are OPL’s – One Point Lessons created to walk you through what needs to be done!
